Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood – 25

Episode 25 is all over the place, from one part of the story to the other. It slowly progresses Edward and Lin’s solitude in Gluttony’s stomach, Roy Mustang’s problems with the Bradley, Alphonse following Gluttony to find Gluttony’s “father”, and Scar and May Chang’s adventure.
The episode seems to go fast only because of the fact that it hops from one story to another. If it wasn’t for this, the episode would seem very slow because in all honestly not much happened. Edward and Lin run into Envy only to discover that they are in an imperfect Truth that Father failed at creating and they can’t escape it, they discover Envy was the cause of the Isbalan war and that he shot the Ishbalan child, and at the end of the episode Envy’s true form is revealed.

It is pretty shocking how ugly of a creature he really is. The design had a somewhat 3D CGI look that felt out of place. Edward and Lin start to fight Envy, then the episode ends.

Outside of Gluttony’s stomach Alphonse convinces Gluttony to take him to Father, which Gluttony agrees to without much thought.

Mustang has a conversation with Bradley explaining why he is kept alive and that Bradley has plans to make Hawkeye his personal assistant. At this time Hawkeye finds this information out and is very confused at what is happening with all the military personal in Central that are close to Mustang being transferred to a different city. It also appears that the other military higher ups know that there are sacrifices and that Bradley is a homunculus.

A small bit of May Chang’s back story is revealed, that she comes from a dying clan and is searching for immortality in order to please Xing’s king. Other than that, this story doesn’t go to far.

In the end episode 25 wasn’t anything special and it really didn’t go to far. It revealed some character back story, and Envy’s true form is shown. I had really high expectations for this episode because I wanted to see what happens with Edward and Lin inside this area between the Truth and the human world. I guess I will just have to wait and see what happens.

heh. Yeah. That big ugly Envy visited my nightmares when I first saw it. I guess we’ll see it more in the latter episodes…
